Remove diffusing cartridge from bag. Apply oil to cartridge Gripping the cartridge by the main rib on its underside, insert into the base by aligning tabs and turning clockwise until cartridge locks into position. Place unit on a sturdy, level surface which is at least 3 feet off the floor and does not obstruct airflow To operate, plug the AC power cord into a 110/120 volt AC wall outlet only and switch on. USEFUL HINTS With most essential oils only a single drop is required on one segment of the vaporizing cartridge. You can mark this segment on the edge of the cartridge so the same segment can be used with the same oil each time. Different oils may be applied to the other segments. This a well-designed unit that is easy to use. The construction quality is pretty good and it seems from the onset that it will last a long time if taken care of, unlike some other similar products I've purchased. The directions say to put one drop of the essential oil on the pad when using the unit. I've found that two drops is optimal but that is just preference. This unit comes with one standard-size bottle of Aura Cacia brand Lavender Essence oil, which is an oil used for calming (the description doesn't tell you which scent you're getting). It also comes with a handy guide to oils and their uses if you don't already know. There are two settings, high and low on the unit. It's not overly noisy. My husband has a small fan he likes to have run while he is sleeping but it annoys me greatly and after he falls asleep I unplug it. However, this unit isn't noisy enough to bother me despite my annoyance from the small fan's noise. What I also like about this unit is that there are no lights on it, unlike other units; I like complete darkness when I sleep. You really don't have to buy a spare or replacement filter for the unit unless yours gets damaged or lost since after each use, all of the oil is atomized and the pad is clean for another scent.
