Contrary to another reviewer, my wife and I have had a good experience with the Beanpod unscented tea candles. The burn time was good, and they burned evenly. There was no burnt plastic that the other reviewer mentioned. These are excellent candles. I am not rating them a 5 solely because they are not the cheapest candles out there. Value excluded, I would rate them a 5 because they are excellent candles.

After buying one of the 25 oz Beanpod candles that others claimed were burning improperly and that Beanpod was dumping on Amazon at a clearance price, I too discovered the flame quickly disappeared within a wall of unburned soy. The bad reviews were true.

Then I bought a set of Beanpod tea lights, which came packaged in a polycarbonate shell one can't remove. Beanpod apparently saved a few pennies choosing plastic over glass, but the burning of the candle will almost certainly leave a vapor trail of plastic all over one's living space, which sort of defeats the health-effects of the soy.

I called Beanpod, and was told that the plastic shell doesn't burn. That doesn't mean that it isn't subject to some vaporization when a flame as hot as a candle heats it, however. Beanpod cavalierly offered to let its "research section" weigh in on this, but it was the research section that presumably allowed that sort of brain dead tomfoolery in the first place.

All in all, Beanpod seems to be demonstrating a consistent willingness to seriously compromise any health benefits from its soy gimmick with an array of cost-saving marketing and production strategies that have ranged from total incompetence to the recklessly dangerous.

I will be returning this set of tea candles. At this point, I'm inclined to consider Beadpod to be the more dubious candle making resources around both in terms of its public persona and its quality control decisions.
