One of the ways that you can honor the memory of special people that have gone on before you is to create what I call an Ancestor Altar. This is just a little place that you set aside in your home. It can be on top of a mantle or on a dresser or any place that is out of the way and you know it will be safe and you won't be throwing your car keys down on it or people setting other things on it. It's definitely a place that you set aside for your ancestors. There are any number of ways that you can set this up where it has heart and meaning for you. You can start with a nice photograph that is in a nice frame or you can have a series of photographs. What I like to do is put out a little tea light candle or a candle that is in a protective jar like a saint candle or a prayer candle. You can also set there a little container that you can burn some incense in. If you have objects that are particular to that person or something that they gave you or other things that they won, such as medals, then you could put those on the altar. Use anything that puts your mind on them in a good way. You can organize those and put maybe some crystals or a nice plant.
