Entry from: Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka Entry Title: "Singing in the rain" Entry: "Yesterday we got up and it was completely raining outside, you know the real summer rains where it was coming down hard and you didn't want to get out of bed. Anyhow we got up and the rain started to die down which was nice because we didn't want the day to be completely rained in. We ate, met up with JJ and started off on our car ride. We had a two hour drive to Anuradapura and on the way we could see some of the country side. It really is a beautiful country here you are driving along and you look out and see a bunch of rice patty fields, and people working in the fields, you see palm trees everywhere and you see a bunch of colourful houses. As we are driving around there are some surprising things you might not expect from a country just out of civil war, there are crosswalks letting you know that there is a school near by. You can see stores with kids toys, the whole place full of kids toys and we aren't talking about in the captial but in some remote town. Overall you do see a bunch of people living their lives and it doesn't seem too bad here. You can tell that most people are farmers and there hasn't been a huge amount of people headed to the city.
